Preventive Dental Treatment
Scaling/Cleaning of Teeth

Are you aware that about 90% of the human population suffers from gum diseases? Did you ever know that gum disease, if left untreated can lead to a deadly heart attack? The bacteria entering into the blood stream through the gums can induce a heart attack. Do you feel you have any of these symptoms?

  • Bad breath/ foul smell in your mouth
  • Spongy gums
  • Bleeding gums
  • Receding gums
  • Mobile/ shaky teeth
  • Loose gums

If yes, you may be having festering gum disease. In such case, consult your dentist immediately.

Despite having a regular brushing routine that may include rinsing/ washing with water every time after a meal or flossing teeth, there is every chance that food debris remains in the mouth. Bacteria react with such debris in the mouth to form a soft slippery layer termed plaque. Over a period of time, plaque hardens to form a chalk like substance called tartar or calculus. No amount of brushing can get rid of tartar/ calculus. Regular intake of tea or coffee, smoking and stain-inducing foods like betel nut, red wine and spices like turmeric tend to stain the teeth too.

Restorative Dental Treatment
Tooth Filling

If you have any of the below symptoms…

  • Frequent food lodgment (trapped) in between your teeth
  • Sensitivity (sensation) of teeth to hot or cold liquids or food stuff
  • Pain/sensation in teeth while having something sweet or sour
  • Pain in teeth while chewing/ eating anything or while applying pressure

Then you could be developing a tooth decay/ cavity/ caries in your teeth.

Bacteria present in the mouth react with the food trapped in the teeth and produces acid. This acid starts dissolving the tooth enamel leading to decay/ cavity/ caries of the tooth. If you have this condition, make sure you visit Shalby, a reliable source for all of your dental treatment needs in India.

The nerve of the tooth can be deeply infected, if the cavity is ignored for a long time. As cavity becomes bigger, it penetrates the top layer (enamel) and the middle layer (dentine) to reach the nerve, taking the tooth beyond the stage of restoration. On your visit to Dental Cosmetics and Implantology Centre of Shalby Hospitals, the dentist will instill a filling in the tooth which could be either silver or a white tooth colored material [cosmetic/ composite filling].

Root Canal Treated Tooth

A root canal treated tooth becomes brittle so it is essential to protect it with a cap. The cap can either be of ceramic or porcelain material. In the absence of a cap/ crown, the tooth might get fractured upon eating any hard stuff like toast, nuts or bones, leading to extraction of your natural tooth entirely.

A tooth with a big cavity makes it difficult to retain the filling within the tooth and therefore, it becomes mandatory to cover the tooth with an appropriate dental crown. The dental crown reinforces the strength of tooth & filling, and helps it stay in the mouth for a long period of time. Ceramic and porcelain dental crowns are an effective treatment option for badly damaged teeth.

Missing Tooth

A ceramic or porcelain dental bridge is the best choice for missing teeth. The bridge takes support of teeth adjacent to the missing tooth/teeth to give a fixed replacement.

Porcelain or ceramic dental caps/ crowns are put on adjacent teeth to anchor the artificial teeth, to fill the gap. It is vital to replace the missing tooth as the missing tooth may compromise the chewing efficiency and put additional strain on the stomach, making the digestion more difficult. Or the adjacent teeth might move/ migrate from either sides of the missing tooth to occupy the vacant space. The opposing tooth (i.e. in the opposite arch) might also grow and move into this space. As a result, new spaces between the rest of the teeth occur as they move. Food gets accumulated into these spaces, which may intensify into acute dental problems.
