A 19-year-old teen from Indore got a new lease of life when family members of Premlata Jain (a 62-year-old from Bhopal) who was declared brain dead on Tuesday evening, decided to donate her vital organs.
According to the reports, a 19-year-old girl was suffering from a chronic kidney disease since 2012. “Before the transplantation, the recipient was on dialysis for the last one week,” Shalby Hospital’s Dr. Vivek Joshi said, adding that it took around 2 hours for the vital organ to reach Indore by 8 am via green corridor while the kidney was successfully transplanted to the patient in next four hours.
As per the information provided by the state organ and tissue transplant organization (SOTTO), they gave a call to multiple hospitals as per the waiting list but most of them refused due to marginal kidney (borderline graft kidney) i.e. the donor’s kidney had three blood vessels instead of one.
Shalby Hospital Indore took up the challenge and successfully performed the transplant procedure with the team of experts and state-of-the-art medical facilities.
