Sperm Egg Embryo Donation
In cases where the gentleman cannot produce sperms, a donor's sperms are used for the fertilization of the lady partner's egg. Donor sperms are used by two methods.
The first method is artificial intrauterine insemination. In the second method the lady partner's egg is fertilized by the donor sperms outside the body, in a petri dish. It may be done either by In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) or Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) processes.
If the male has a very low sperm count and the couple does not wish to undergo procedures like ICSI, use of donor sperms is advised. The male partner might not have sperms as diagnosed by semen examination and confirmed by testicular biopsy, due to following reasons:
- If the male partner has a hereditary genetic disease
- If the couple has Rh factor incompatibility
- In case of single mothers it is now legal for a woman to be a single parent in India.
