Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
It is also called as Artificial Insemination. This is the most common artificial reproductive procedure. Prepared semen of husband/donor is placed inside the uterus through a very thin cannula via cervix at the expected time of ovulation. This helps in allowing sperms in closer proximity to the egg as it descends from the ovary through the fallopian tube.
It can be combined with drugs for ovulation induction to increase its chances of success. It is indicated in mild male factor, unexplained infertility, cervical and immunologic factors or can be combined with ovulation induction in cases of ovulatory dysfunction.
