Posted On: June 14, 2023
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis that affects a large number of people. It is a degenerative joint disease wherein the cartilage that provides cushion between two joints deteriorates due to age-related wear and tear. This causes pain whilst walking and climbing stairs. In its initial stage osteoarthritis can be managed with conservative treatment, but when it progresses to advanced stage the pain is very severe and hampers the day to day activities of patients. The only permanent treatment is joint replacement surgery. Dr Gagandeep Gupta, Orthopedic & Joint Replacement Surgeon at Shalby Hospitals Mohali explains osteoarthritis of the knee joint and knee replacement surgery in detail.
