81 year old mother donates kidney to daughter at Shalby Hospitals Ahmedabad

Mrs Usha Goel from Beawar in Rajasthan is 57 years. After severe Covid infection, she had cortical necrosis. Cortical necrosis is death of the tissue in the outer part of the kidney which results from blockage of the small arteries that supply blood to the kidney. Due to this both her kidneys had failed.

She consulted Dr Raj Mandot, Senior Nephrologist & Transplant Physician at Shalby Hospitals Ahmedabad. Mrs Goel was put on dialysis. She needed kidney transplant, but unfortunately no one except her mother who is 81 years old, has the same blood group as her. Usually, a younger donor’s kidney is preferred for transplant but Ushaji’s mother, though 81 years old, is fit and healthy, and her tests revealed she was the right donor.

Mrs Goel’s kidney transplant procedure went smoothly. She as well as her mother are feeling very well now. Dr Raj Mandot explains her case in detail. Mrs Goel is full of appreciation him and Shalby Hospitals Ahmedabad as she shares her experience.
