The initial months of a child’s life are full of joy and ecstasy for parents. However, for Mr. Ayrton and Edwina from Mozambique, this was far from the truth. Their first child Joao Lucas had a problem seeing with major loss of vision as well as had delayed growth with problems in feeding.
Joao is presently just 10 months. When the young couple did not find treatment in Mozambique they came to Krishna Shalby Hospitals and consulted Dr. Harshil Shah, Neurosurgeon.
Joao’s tests revealed he had a large initial stage 2 cancerous brain tumour. The tumour was of the size of 7 x 8 x 9 cm and occupied one-third of the brain. Dr. Harshil Shah performed successful micro neurosurgery on Joao.
In this type of surgery, the skull is opened, but the operative corridors for the surgeon are very small, and thus this is high-risk surgery. Joao is feeling better after the surgery that lasted 5 hours and has seen great improvement in his condition.
His parents Mr. Ayrton and Edwina share their experience, as they are full of appreciation for Dr. Harshil Shah and Krishna Shalby Hospitals for treating their son successfully.
