Mr Baria, age 30, hailing from Dahod, Gujarat was engaged in concreting work on the 6th floor of a construction site at Ahmedabad. Somehow, he lost balance and fell on to the ground. During the fall, a 3 feet long rusted Iron Rod Struck through his Back, close to the Spinal Cord & came out from below the rectum area. He becomes unconscious.
He was brought to Shalby Hospital’s emergency & Dr Harendra Thakkar, Critical Care Specialist & Emergency Team stabilized the Patient and was immediately sent to OT for Surgery.
Dr Avinash Tank, Gastro Surgeon operated on him facing lots of difficulties. Giving anaesthesia itself was a challenge as the patient was lying on his stomach with the iron rod pierced through the body. The iron rod was removed and bypass colostomy was done. In the ICU Critical Care Specialist, Dr Minesh Mehta and team closely monitored the possibility of any postoperative infection.
The Patient got admitted again last week and reverse colostomy was performed on him. He got discharged in stable condition on January 9, 2017. Thus a precious life got saved by the team effort at Shalby.
