Few Cancer Statistics of India to be aware of on World Cancer Day

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Center of Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR) at Bangalore have reported a significant rise in cancer cases in India.

There have also been speculations made about a rise in India’s cancer cases by 12% in the next five years, according to the studies.

It has been estimated that there would be an increase in Cancer cases from 13.9 Lakhs in 2020 to 15.7 Lakhs in 2025.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), around 27 Lakh people had Cancer in 2020 with an increase of 13.9 lakhs per year.

The most common types of cancer affecting the demography would shed more light on the types of cancer to be on the lookout for. It differs in accordance to age, gender and lifestyles:

The top common five cancers in men and women cover 47.2% of all types of cancers;

For Men they are Oral Cavity, Lung, Stomach, Colorectal, Oesophagus; the severity of each in accordance to the mentioned respective order.

For Women they are Breast, Cervix Uteri, Ovary, Oral Cavity, Colorectal; the severity of each in accordance to the mentioned respective order.
