6th International Conclave of Orthopedic Fraternity ( ORTHOTRENDS) concluded in Ahmedabad

Faculties from USA, Australia, France, Pennsylvania, Republic of Korea and various States of India deliberated on various topics of Orthopedics and Joint replacement.

• 500 doctors including delegates from Kenya, Ethiopia, Malawi, Ghana, Panama, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and India attended the meet.

Orthotrends- 2019, the 6th edition of an International Conclave of the Orthopedic fraternity , a two day annual meet, was held in Ahmedabad on 5th & 6th October, 2019 with the theme “ Taking Arthroplasty a Step Ahead”. The previous editions of this meet were successfully organized in cities- Ahmedabad, Indore, Jaipur and Chandigarh.

Dr Vikram Shah, the world renowned Joint Replacement Surgeon and Chairman & Managing Director of Shalby Hospitals, Ahmedabad is the Patron of this conference. Dr J. A. Pachore, the well known Hip Replacement Surgeon and Director, Department of Hip Replacement, Shalby Hospitals is the conference Chairperson.

Eminent international faculties; Dr Raymond Eric Randle from Australia, Dr Jean-Louis Briard from France , Dr Carl E. Becker from Pennsylvania ,Dr Sunil R. Thacker from New Jersey and Dr Jong Keun Seon from Republic of Korea , along with their counter parts in India guided the Symposium.

Various contemporary topics in Orthopedics and Joint replacement like; New classification of Varus Knee, How to achieve high flexion in Asian Knees, Arthroplasty in Asia, Cemented and Uncemented Hip, Bearing surfaces in Primary Hip Replacement, Second Stage Revision Surgeries of Knee and Hip, Panel discussion on select Clinical Cases and a host of other related topics were discussed and deliberated in the conference for updating the knowledge of the seasoned and budding orthopedic doctors.

Hip replacement cost in India is just a fraction of what it costs in other Western countries, including the US and UK. This is the major reason why India has emerged as a hub for orthopaedic surgeries for the medical tourists. On an average, a medical tourist spends 50 to 70 percent less amount when they decide to travel to India for hip or knee replacement or for that matter any other orthopaedic surgery”, said Dr J.A. Pachore, the veteran Hip Replacement Surgeon, on the sidelines of the conference.
