Posted On: June 14, 2023
Knee Replacement is one of the most popular surgeries today to treat damaged knee joints. This surgery is essentially of two types; partial knee replacement and total knee replacement. Partial Knee Replacement is also known by various terms like unicondylar knee replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement, half knee replacement, PF knee replacement, and microplasty. When only one part of the knee joint is damaged, especially in young and active patients, partial knee replacement is preferred whilst when all the three components of our knee joint are damaged total knee replacement is done. Dr. Manu Sharma, a Senior Joint Replacement Surgeon at Shalby Hospitals Surat, explains the differences between in detail different types of knee replacement surgery. He also says that the right case selection by the surgeon is very important for partial knee replacement.
